“The results of changing my ways has resulted in becoming stronger, with more stamina on climbs, and lasting longer in the saddle than ever before.”

Lifestyle Transformation

Typically when searching out a personal trainer, or nutritionist the first thing that comes to mind is starting a diet plan, and or workout regime. When I first met with Karla I was already eating fairly well and had a good workout schedule. So what could Karla bring to my goals that I wasn’t already doing?

Well the answer was simple different nutrition, and different workout. With my goal of keeping up with the pack on Saturday and Sunday bike rides, and being able to ride a 100 miles over mountain passes, we needed to make some changes.

I have been a tough client. Questioning Karla, not always liking the schedule or plan she put forth, but I wanted to get better so I listened. The results of changing my ways has resulted in becoming stronger, with more stamina on the climbs, and lasting longer in the saddle than ever before. Thanks Karla for listening to me WHINE, and I still don’t like pop squats. Sometime change is good.

“I loved her program and philosophy. Her nutritional counseling and workout regimen is personalized and curtailed for YOUR specific goals.”

Healthy Lifestyle Transformation Photo Shoot Fitness Model Lifestyle Transformation

Exercise and eating healthy has always been a part of my lifestyle.  In the past, my exercise regimen consisted primarily of cardio based routines such as jogging and high and low impact aerobics.  I was always afraid of resistance training for fear of “bulking up”.  After the birth of my second child, nearly 16 years ago, I was convinced to begin incorporating weight training into my regimen.  So for the following years, I continued working out with various trainers, friends, and myself and never fully attained the results I desired.  I grew frustrated, and so I began searching the internet for a different “program” for myself and came across Karla Adam’s Website.  Her program and testimonials of past and present clients was very appealing to me.  I set up an appointment to meet with her the following week and was in the gym ready for my first workout the following Monday!

I loved her program and philosophy. Her nutritional counseling and workout regimen is personalized and curtailed for YOUR specific goals.  After I started to see changes and results in the way that I looked and felt, I knew that I could trust her.  Six months after I started her program, Karla encouraged me to do a photo shoot.  This was something I had never done, and quite frankly, it was just “not me”.  I was reluctant, but went ahead and did it regardless of how I felt.  I remember the week before the shoot I told Karla, ” I don’t know if I want to do this!”  She sat me down and encouraged and reassured me that I would be happy I did it.  She was right!  I was very excited and pleased with the entire experience and the results that were displayed in the photos!  There was a lot of hard work, structure, self discipline and motivation put forth into the entire process.  It was such an encouragement to finally reach some of the goals that I had been striving for for quite some time!

My experience here at Karla Adams’ Fitness Corporation has been educating, motivating, and inspiring! I have been very blessed to be able to do what I do and I am so thankful for that!  It sure feels good to “feel good”, be healthy, and strive to be the best that you can be!  I hope that this is an encouragement for others who  are beginning a new journey of healthy living or who are trying to improve their  present lifestyle!!

“I came to Karla Adams in March, 2012 with a big challenge. I was seriously out of shape and needed to trim 30 pounds for an important cycling event and had only 3 months to do it.

Karla got me started on a nutrition and supplement plan that was sensible, workable and really worked! She took the time to explain the details of the plan and the pur

pose of each supplement. It was obvious that she not only knew what she was talking about, but was also very passionate about it. It was also apparent that she walks her talk, as Karla may be the most physically fit person I’ve ever met.

I chose the group training option – something not available at most gyms I’ve used in the past. It provided the personalized training I needed at a price I could afford. The groups were small – usually less than 4 people.

The atmosphere in the gym is great. The people are friendly, the mood is upbeat and Karla does a great job of keeping things light and fun, and only cracking the whip (literally) when the whining gets out of hand. 😉

Karla also does a fantastic job of providing positive feedback and motivation by providing regular measurement appointments to measure progress and to make sure her clients feel appreciated for their hard work.

In the three months I worked with Karla before my cycling event, I reduced my weight by almost all of the 30 pounds I set out to, reduced my body fat percentage by about 5%, reduced by body size by about 10 inches and strengthened and toned my muscles. As a result, I was able to successfully complete my cycling event, a 3-day, 325 mile bike ride from Riverside to June Lake with substantial amounts of climbing, in spite of seriously adverse weather conditions.

I continued to work with Karla for an additional two months and reduced my weight by an additional 10 pounds & my body fat by an additional 3%.

I highly recommend Karla Adams Fitness Corporation for anyone who is serious about fitness and is looking for an affordable and fun atmosphere to accomplish their fitness goals.”

I know when I leave the gym each time that I have been pushed to my limits.

Lifestyle Transformation

 Healthy Lifestyle

I’ve worked out with weights on and off since I started high school, knowing little of what I was really doing. Being motivated to work out and exercising consistently is tough. Working hard was never an issue with exercise, but I always had trouble giving myself that extra push. Putting on muscle was not a
problem, though the spare tire around the mid-section always has been.

Since working with April, Karla, and Andrew over the last year I get that extra push that I need while working out. I can come in and ask questions whenever needed. My home workouts are planned for me. I get help with my nutrition. Staying motivated is no longer a problem, I love coming in to Karla’s when it’s time for my sessions. Just by working with the different trainers I’m given tips on how to vary an exercise the slightest bit, implement new exercises into my home routine.

Being visually impaired, everyone here has been great about working with me and giving any assistance that I might require. My experience here has been nothing but great! Everyone makes coming in and training a blast, I always look forward to my next session. It is never the same thing twice coming into Karla’s. I know when I leave the gym each time that I have been pushed to my limits.

I’ve shed about fifteen unwanted pounds and feel much more fit.

Lifestyle Transformation

Writing testimonials has never been a strongpoint for me, but considering the fact that Karla and April have been so supportive and given such encouragement; I decided to give it a shot. I don’t know about you, but it’s always been very difficult for me to muster up the motivation to really put forth the effort and dedication needed for true fitness. I’ve always stayed in decent shape without putting myself out too much. I’ve never been the type to go too crazy about watching everything I eat and drink. I always have drank way too much soda, diet soda but still soda. I’ve since learned that any soda is too much based on what it does to your body. I am still guilty from time to time, but I am making the effort. My diet really has been lacking as far as proper foods and nutrients. My exercise regimen has been minimal.

I began running back in 1996 and did a fair amount of training as far as just the running part. I was told it would be beneficial to do some other types of cross training such as cycling or weights. I never really took the time to do it and I probably suffered as far as my actual results for the first marathon that I tried. I wanted to complete it within 4 hours and I ended up with 4:09. That’s not too bad for a first time marathon, but just a little more effort and there is probably a very good chance I would have made my goal. The following year I lost the motivation to continue and I slacked off completely as far as my exercising. Sound familiar? I believe we all become guilty of it at some time or another.

This is where people like Karla and April come in. They are that extra push to go another step. They become that second voice when you are trying to convince yourself that you can go ahead and have that extra helping or that really high calorie desert. You always know that they are there to support you if you need them. They become a friend and not just a trainer. I believe this is what you really need if you want to really succeed at becoming the best that you can be. Sorry, the cliché was unintentional. But, it is true. I believe that they want the person that they are helping to become what they see in them even if that individual doesn’t see it.

I began running again back in 2010 with the Riverside Road Runners. This is where I had my first contact with April Smith who works with Karla. She was talking about the added benefits of incorporating some additional training to make your running stronger. As I stated, I’ve never really had the inkling to do weights much. It just was always hard for me for whatever reason. April and Karla are just what I needed to give me that extra
knowledge as far as what it could do for my overall health. They really push the nutrition part of health and how important it is as well. I’ve shed about fifteen unwanted pounds and feel much more fit. I still have goals to achieve and I know that if I put the effort into following the lifestyle choices they recommend, I will get there.

Anyone looking for someone that will push you in the right direction, I highly recommend Karla Adams Fitness Corporation.

I was 27 years old when I realized that I had hit rock bottom when it came to my health. We had stairs in my house and I would get out of breath when I would climb up them. One time it had gotten so bad that I had to sit down when I got to the top. At that point, as I sat there, I had a talk with myself. I knew I had to get my health under control. Otherwise, I was going to die at an early age. I told myself that I didn’t get there overnight and that I wasn’t going to get to where I wanted to be overnight either. I accepted the fact that it was going to take a lot of hard work and determination, but that I was human and would not beat myself up when I fell off the bandwagon. At the beginning of my journey, I weighed 260 pounds.

“It all began with a meal plan!”
Lifestyle Transformation Healthy Lifestyle Transformation Photo Shoot Sport-Specific

We all reach that magical age of 40+ and realize that we don’t look the way we did at 20, nor can we lose those extra pounds as quickly as we did in our youth.  I’ve been very active all of my life with one sport or another until I suffered a back injury 13 years ago bringing everything to a stand still. I was told I would not be able to participate in physical sports any longer so I turned all of my focus to my career and raising 2 children; putting “ME” on the back burner.  I began walking 3 years ago to try and bring some form of exercise back into my life. Now that my children are out of the house I was bored and wanted more from life.  I began to watch my diet, joined a local gym and began walking with the Loma Linda Lopers.  I hired a personal trainer from the local gym but was seeing no improvement in my weight or body shape. After seeing Nancy Mitchell and reading Karla’s column in the Lopergram I decided to make the call. I met Karla in May 2007, beginning my workouts and following her meal plan. To date I’ve lost 13lbs and gone down 4 sizes. I have never felt or looked as good as I do today, and I’m not done yet.

It all began with the meal plan and having to completely change my life style.  I was the queen of fast food and sweets; always on the go.  Karla has taught me how to plan ahead, take food with me, and to ask for food on my plan at restaurants when I don’t see something on the menu.  I have been pleasantly surprised how accommodating restaurants have been in meeting my nutritional needs. Once our workout sessions started, I was able to see results after the first week.  I have always felt encouraged, motivated, and safe with Karla.  I had a concern regarding my back and immediately realized how extensive Karla’s knowledge and experience of the human body was. She tailored a workout schedule to insure my success, and remain injury free. I have so much respect for Karla and owe her my deepest gratitude for believing in me, encouraging me, and motivating me to become the person I have always wanted to be.  I have gone from being a walker to getting ready to run my 3rd marathon this year.  If you are reading this I would encourage you to take the time to meet Karla and give her the opportunity to make a difference in your life as well.  Thank you Karla, you are truly a blessing to all that you have touched.

I came to Karla Adams in January to help me prepare for a fitness competition. I weighted 203 lbs and had over 20% body fat. Karla gave me a step by step plan to help me achieve my goals of fat loss and lean muscle development. Karla’s nutritional plan took the guess work out of eating correctly.

She showed me how to eat a balanced and nutritious diet that would help me achieve my goals. Her qualified training staff helped me work hard in the gym and to push myself to new levels.  90 days after I started Karla’s program, I lost a total of 26Lbs and reduced my body fat in half!

My waist size went from 36’ to 32’. I’m 46 years old and I can honestly say, this is the best I’ve looked and felt ever.

Thanks Karla and Staff for helping me achieve my goals.

Healthy Lifestyle

Judy Remele is a loper and board member who has completed many marathons. Judy’s diet is already very healthy. She is a vegetarian who makes almost all of her food from scratch. However, while the food was healthy she still did not have the necessary balance of protein-carbohydrate-fat to recover from her long miles. She was feeling fatigued and low in energy. She also wished to tone up more and was puzzled that with all the running she was doing her body weight had stayed at 139 for the past 2 years. Judy was not getting the tone look that she wanted.

Judy had low amounts of energy during and after her runs because her body was not getting what it needed, which affected her recovery. By changing her diet, adding additional Amino Acids, supplements, and a weight training routine, her muscles started recovering. Thus, increasing her lean muscle mass, which made her feel stronger immediately. Her body then needed more calories to function, therefore burning the excess fat. Judy feels good during and after her runs, because her muscles are recovering. Judy is now an optimally fit runner that is recovering from her routine and is getting stronger in the process. She is also reducing her fat without losing the muscle. Judy is now weighing in at 133lbs. thus 6 lbs lost. Her pant size drop from 8 to a size 6, and she has a new PB (personal best) in her last marathon by taking 6 minutes off her time, all in 5 weeks. Judy’s say’s, “the advice works, it got the job done.”

Things Vegetarian’s need to know about!

Marathon Training and There Nutrition

Vegetarian’s training for marathons have different nutritional needs then one’s that are living a life style of little to no exercise. Exercise increases the bodies need for vitamins, calories, nutritious, water, ext.

Among the many things that is hard for vegetarians to get enough of is protein. Protein is the only things that rebuild muscle when it has been torn down from training. If your are not getting enough protein you may feel fatigued, recover slowly, week during your training.

This is Sharon La Valley’s third year as a loper, she has completed one marathon and five half marathons. One year ago she realized that she had hit a wall in her personal training and turned to Karla for professional advice. As a vegetarian it was difficult to build up muscle and stamina required for running a marathon. Sharon had a goal to finish Los Angeles marathon 2005 feeling strong.  She also wanted to tone up and look fit. In three months she dropped fifteen pounds and three dress sizes. Maintaining a healthy diet and combining intensive gym training four days a week, allowed Sharon to complete her first marathon in the top 49% of participating female athletes.  “Karla’s program really does work if you’re committed to a goal; I’ve kept the physique I obtained last year by maintaining a modified regiment of gym work outs, running and proper nutrition” says Sharon.

“I am pleasantly surprised how much my upper body strength and muscle endurance have improved in three months.

Lifestyle Transformation

Healthy Lifestyle

My wife and I learned of Karla from our involvement with the Loma Linda Lopers.  I had been concerned about my lack of core and upper body strength.  I have always been a runner (slow) and a biker but have never done much to tax or develop upper body and core strength.  In fact, my upper body muscle endurance and strength deteriorated as I aged.

I have had a gym membership for several years, but I had not gone consistently.  I would try weights for a while with little results.  After reading the book “Younger Next Year,” a great book for men fifty and over, I decided it was time to get serious about strength training.  The authors really made the case for strength training at least one hour two days a week along with four days of aerobic training for those of us fifty and over.  I generally came close to the aerobic training, but not the strength training goal.

My wife, also a marathoner, and I decided to meet with Karla about her training program.  We both decided to try her program for three months with some question as to whether working with a trainer would be worth the cost.  Now, after three months, there is no question that training with Karla has been a wonderful investment for our good health.

Karla set training routines for each workout that were appropriate for my strength level.  I quickly saw why my hit and miss weight training had been ineffective.  Karla’s routines involved an element of circuit training which maintained a training heart rate level in addition to the anaerobic work I was doing.  Karla monitored the work I was doing to make sure she was pushing me beyond what I thought I could do.  There is no wasted time.  No question about it, Karla makes you work hard!  She made sure I did the exercises correctly to maximize the benefit and prevent injuries.  I am pleasantly surprised how much my upper body strength and muscle endurance have improved in three months. Although I have always been thin, I lost a little body fat and added muscle mass.  My wife and I are continuing our training with Karla to build on the significant progress we have made.

“Karla works you hard but she gets results.

Lifestyle Transformation

Healthy Lifestyle

My purpose in working with Karla was to (1) lose the extra pounds gained from my physical inactivity while  pursuing my Bachelor’s degree while working full time, (2) decrease the time it was taking to complete a marathon, and (3) gain muscle strength in my overall body.

In the time I have been working with Karla, I have succeeded in all areas.  I’ve lost over 14 pounds, several inches, and have gone down two slack sizes; I have shaved 22 minutes off of my marathon time; and I’m stronger than I have ever been.

Karla works you hard but she gets results.  Just when you feel comfortable with an exercise, she ups the ante, making you work harder to accomplish the exercise.  Some days I leave the gym thinking my arms and legs will never be the same, and the muscles are so weary that I’m not sure I’ll be able to drive to work.  But, I’ve also resigned myself to knowing this is what it takes to make progress.

Thanks, Karla, for your knowledge, help, and support in helping me meet my goals.  Keep up the good work!

Karla is the terminator with dimples! She looks sweet and nice while kicking your butt with a smile. I have been working out with Karla for about 8 months and have dropped over 35 pounds and 3 1/2 dress sizes. There is no fooling around in her workout sessions. When you see her “subjects” compared to other trainer’s “subjects”, you can see a big difference. She gets results. My husband and I go on a lot of vacations and have still done really good with our weight loss and toning. One word of advice, don’t let her fool you with her “extra credit”. I think it is good for some crazy thing she might try to get you to eat or drink! That said, I highly recommend her as a trainer.

“40 pounds lighter and feeling much stronger and healthier than I did when I started!”
Lifestyle Transformation Healthy Lifestyle  Sport-Specific

I have been working out with Karla now for 1- 1/2 years.  Prior to knowing Karla, I worked out pretty much every day and did long distance training on Saturday and Sunday.  I never seemed to lose weight , though.  I was pretty healthy but I was overweight.  So, I went to Karla to see if having a trainer would help me learn how to lose the weight I needed to lose.  A year and a half later I’m 40 pounds lighter and feel much stronger and healthier than I did when I started.  My marathon times have improved significantly and my recovery time after a marathon is much faster.

Not only has Karla given me challenging strength training exercises to do and a good nutrition plan,  she also has challenged me to look at all parts of my life and see how they interface.  It’s not just about what I eat and how much I exercise but also the amount of sleep I get, how my emotions are and what my mental state of mind is.  Karla has clarified for me that all of those factors are important in gaining and maintaining healthy habits and a healthy weight.

One question I get asked is why I keep working with a trainer….in a year and a half wouldn’t you now know all the exercises and the nutrition plan and you could just do it yourself?   Well, the answer to that is yes, I do know them and I could do them on my own.  However, I enjoy the challenges that Karla gives me when she changes up the exercises, increases the weight and keeps me thinking about how it all fits together.  I would highly recommend Karla to anyone who needs an extra boost to get them on track or someone who just wants to get in the best physical, mental and emotional state that they can.  Karla is motivating and pushes her clients to be the best that they can.

“If you want to keep your body in good shape, get Karla as your coach and follow her directions faithfully.  It really works and you will be happy.”

Lifestyle Transformation  Sport-Specific

Hello, my name is Yoko Boucher and I LOST 20 LBS!! I have maintained the weight for two years under the expert instruction of Karla Adams.

In the beginning, I was 134 lbs, I knew I was overweight, my face was round and I had almost no waist line.  I was wearing size 10–12 loose top slacks with loose elastic band.  I didn’t like my style or my fashion. My journey has begun. That was 2 years ago.

My friends were kind and ignored my size by not criticizing me for being overweight.  However, my true friend Mr. Takahashi in Sendai mentioned to me that I was starting to look like a pig.  In addition, Mr. Fujii (previous mayor of Sendai) politely said to me, “Yoko-San, you are getting round.” That means I am getting fat.  My husband, Tom, agreed with the comment.

I tried exercise, diet, a European spa with salt, Expensive French Lait products to tighten up muscles and seaweed wrapping for six months.  Nothing worked.

I needed professional help from a consultant and trainer.  After three weeks of exercising and dieting under Karla’s direction, I lost 14 lbs.  I could wear stylish dresses and my dress size was a 6.  Wow!!!   Not only did I look fashionable, my cholesterol level came down from 220 to 190.  All my friends noticed my new image and I felt wonderful.  My husband said I looked great.

From that point on, I knew I wanted to obtain my original goal of 115 lbs. At a height of 5’2’’ and small frame, 115 lbs is an appropriate weight. So under Karla’s instruction twice a week, I have been maintaining my weight at 115 lbs with diet and exercise for over a year.

During this time I have had with Karla, it has been fun and tough but she has always been there to listen to me and to look over me as an instructor and a friend.  She is always professional, disciplined, pleasant, talented, and cute.  Now she is one of my best friends.

If you want to keep your body in good shape, get Karla as your private trainer and follow her directions faithfully.  It really works and you will be happy.

She’s worth every penny!! I’ve been working with Karla Adams as my trainer and personal nutritionist for 10 months, and couldn’t be happier with the results. I was an athlete who had run all my life and, as of late, had been doing triathlons. But, I was dealing with a lot of arthritis pain every day. I’d also reached a plateau trying to trim off some excess around my midsection so I could finally see my abs and just carve my physique a bit more. Karla was able to help me do that in no time. Not only did I do a fitness photo shoot with Karla and her team within a few months (that was an amazing experience), but I also competed in the Muscle Beach Bikini competition and placed 4th in my age group.

Talk about a confidence builder at age 44!!! Karla has taught me how to rid myself of 100% of my arthritic pain by simply eating clean. She has shown me what foods I should be eating and the amounts of food my body requires for optimal health and metabolic burn. Its one thing to lose the excess, but it’s another when you can finally learn to keep it off. Karla helps you to realize it’s all a mindset. Thus, I have been living pain free for the past 10 months and believe Karla has the expertise to help anyone reach their nutritional and health goals, while still achieving optimal energy levels and the optimal physique. Karla Adams Rocks!!!

“I loved her program and philosophy. Her nutritional counseling and workout regimen is personalized and curtailed for YOUR specific goals.”

Healthy Lifestyle Transformation Photo Shoot Fitness Model

Exercise and eating healthy has always been a part of my lifestyle.  In the past, my exercise regimen consisted primarily of cardio based routines such as jogging and high and low impact aerobics.  I was always afraid of resistance training for fear of “bulking up”.  After the birth of my second child, nearly 16 years ago, I was convinced to begin incorporating weight training into my regimen.  So for the following years, I continued working out with various trainers, friends, and myself and never fully attained the results I desired.  I grew frustrated, and so I began searching the internet for a different “program” for myelf and came across Karla Adam’s Website.

Healthy Lifestyle Fitness Model Transformation Photo Shoot

My name is Rachelle Merrihew and I have been a client of Karla Adams for the last 3 years. I went to Karla because I was looking for a change in my workout program. After 3 years, I competed in 3 Figure competitions and did numerous photo shoots. I did things I never imagined possible and am thankful to Karla for sharing her passion for fitness with me. Through her I learned about  healthy eating as a lifestyle not just as a diet.

At the age of 43 I have accomplished so much because of her and am forever grateful for her commitment to my fitness journey, to believing in me and for supporting me every step of the way. I have been able to develop my fitness into a healthy and balanced lifestyle and have grown to love it even more. Fitness is a marathon not a sprint and with hard work and dedication, anything is possible. Thank you Karla and your team for all encouragement in helping me to reach my fitness goals.

 Lifestyle Transformation

This July I turned 60. Last year when I turned 59, I felt fat, ugly, old, unhealthy, unhappy and depressed. I knew I had to do something. I was in a deep dark hole and I did not have the strength to pull myself out of it. I internet searched and found Karla in Sept 2012. I made a commitment to her that I would follow her instructions, working out 3 times a week and eating the proper nutrition. The first few months I only lost inches, but then the pounds started falling off of me. As of July 2013 I have lost 30 pounds, 45 inches and 14% body fat. This last year has been my life transformation. I look and feel younger than I have in years.

This last weekend I was at the beach (in my 2 piece bathing suit) with my 6 year old grandson Marley. He was playing with another 6 year old little girl. Her grandmother came up to me to introduce herself. She asked me how old my daughter Corey is (Marley’s mom), and I told her 31. She said “You don’t look old enough to have a 31 year old daughter”. When I told her I was 60, her jaw just about hit the sand. This is just one example, I get this reaction almost everyday.

Karla and her team have helped me in more ways than they know. Not just the weight loss, firming, toning and proper nutrition but I have also found support, encouragement, and friendship. Best of all, I have found myself!!! Now I have a 60 year old Rockin’ Goddess body, in only 10 months.

Hey, if I can do this at 60, you can do this! Once your body becomes strong, it will carry over into all areas of your life.

My name is Charlotte Sweeney. I started my Health and Fitness training in my 30s and was able to lose 40lbs. But as I got older it became harder. So when I retired I decided to hire a personal trainer. Training with Karla, I learned weight training and diet. She also helped me with cardio training. I lost weight (30lbs), and toned my body.

I never thought I could be this fit. I had almost given up. I have competed in 4 muscle contests, and 2 fitness pageants. I have 5 trophies and one medal. My goal was to keep my weight down and be healthy. I have exceeded that thanks to Karla. Before Karla you could not get me into a bikini. Now I’m wearing figure suits and standing in front of Judges and audiences. I encourage anyone, if you are not meeting your fitness goals, to call Karla.

“Karla taught me so much about food and self-development. She’s like my therapist.”
Lifestyle Transformation Transformation Photo Shoot

I am 22 years old, and when I came to Karla’s I had no idea what I was doing. Well, what I was doing was actually destroying myself with food. I was an emotional eater. I had some things happen to me in the past that made me hide myself.  I really isolated myself. I mean, I put on the weight real fast. I wasn’t always overweight. So, at one point in time, I final started opening up and feeling better about myself emotionally but the weight was still there and I still felt bad about myself and how I looked.

I came to Karla’s because my grandparents and my aunt came here. And you know, they lost a lot of weight. I work with them too. I’ve watched them at work, eating healthy, going out to the gym and then all of a sudden I was the outcast. So I was like, “whoa, whoa, whoa, you’re all not just gonna get healthy and I’m gonna sit here and be a fatty.” So they really inspired me to come talk to Karla, and she taught me so much about food and self-development. She’s like my therapist.

She really helped me tremendously. I couldn’t have done this without her telling me what to do. I think that people want instant results, who doesn’t? But unfortunately, it doesn’t work that way. So, she really helped me be patient with the process.

What I’m struggling with at the moment, is after losing all that weight I still see myself as that person sometimes. After you lose the weight you still feel fat, because you’ve spent years overweight and all of a sudden you’re not. That’s the obstacle I’m overcoming right now. I’ve talked to Karla about it, and I’m being patient with myself words wise. You know when people say to me, “you look really good,” instead of saying, “aww” I say, “THANK YOU! I worked my ass of for this!”

That is my story. I wish I would have taken a video along the way. I hope to inspire people to just keep doing it long enough to reap the benefits and feel how I feel. I want to get up and I want to go to the gym, and I want to eat good things. Genuinely. I never thought I could be that person. It’s such a trip to be that person!

Healthy Lifestyle

Unsure on how to help my husband in his plea to become a thinner man, I contacted the Karla Adams Fitness Gym, via Google.  I choose this as our first gym visit in another attempt to bring health to our household based on the accomplishments and comments posted on Karla’s website.

Our quest with Karla has been one amazing accomplishment after another.  My husband, Mike (aka “The Incredible Shrinking Man”), has t

ransformed his body to that of a 20 year old man. Hot! Hot!  My husband looks terrific in his clothes and his attitude on life has changed.  He feels and looks great, has discovered what a sit bone is and his surfing has improved, less board, more cutbacks!

But not only has Mike made leaps and bounds in his healthy life style, I too am now a lean person.  My doctor had made the statement that I am one of those “(a fat skinny person) I look thin in appearance, but my body fat states I’m overweight”. I have dropped more body fat than I ever thought was possible…Lean Healthy me!

Both Mike and I enjoy (and I do mean enjoy) the gym so much we never miss our work outs. Has this been a challenge?  Yes!  Eat Clean, Almond Butter, and Real Food, what does that all mean.  Well, it means you walk into the grocery store and make educated choices on the types of foods you will purchase and prepare.  No special foods, just REAL food items available.  Real foods really do taste wonderful. It’s a lesson that I have enjoyed with the help of Karla.  Mix the RIGHT stuff and be wowed by the results.  With my choices I AM able to impact our lives with good healthy foods.

Work outs for me had continuously been a discouragement, as after a workout I always felt ill.  When discussing Karla’s approach with us she had stated there was an introduction phase to excise.  We had never heard that term, each gym we participated at, was always full speed ahead, all or none!  Her approach to fitness has given me arms (aka “The Show Guns”), that I always wanted and much more!  Karla is an artist in her industry; she shapes bodies, to be healthy and fit.

I am so proud of my husband in so many ways.  Losing 60 PLUS POUNDS, is not an easy undertaking, but Mike makes it fun and enjoyable to all who were around him, witnessing his transformation.  Mike’s approach is comical, fun, lots of jokes, and never ending laughter. Yes I have goo-goo eyes for him!   There are golden years and we are living them!

Karla is an amazing, determined educator, motivator and life style changer.  She is ONE person WHO makes differences in each of her clients’ life.  The positive output of energy in Karla’s gym impacts all her clients.  Both Mike and I have not only seen huge changes in our life style, but all of Karla’s clients have miraculous results. It’s a FEEL good gym!

Our many thanks to Karla and her outstanding staff in their encouragement and eagerness in setting goals that where never known or discussed, just accomplished! WOW!!

With gratitude,

I am a fan of Karla and her gym.  I am grateful for my improved quality of life (no more migraines!) and confidence in myself (swimsuits can be fun!).  Nutrition and exercise, both plans customized for me, enabled me to lose 25 pounds and 8% body fat.  Strength and health are worth working for- not quick weight-loss yo-yo plans.  Thank you to the entire Karla Adams team: past and present.

Fitness Model

I started my health and fitness journey in the fall of 2010 after struggling with lethargy and fatigue my entire lifetime. Years of suffering through childhood autoimmune hepatitis and gastro-intestinal infections left me lacking in energy and strength long after I had recovered, and I was resistant to becoming active as a result. I would go out of my way to avoid any situations which would test my endurance and limited myself in activities outdoors despite my desire to participate. As a young adult, I knew I wanted to be healthy and physically fit, but I lacked the knowledge and motivation to follow through with it on it on my own. Even worse, I didn’t know where to start.

When I finally contacted Karla Adams in August of 2010, I had reached the final straw. I was in my final year of college and I didn’t have the energy to make it through the day, or the endurance to even make it up one flight of stairs without feeling winded. I knew I was too young to submit to a lifetime of this and that I needed to make changes. As further motivation, I also really wanted to look and feel good in my skin. I looked up personal trainers and nutritionists in my area, and I started my journey with change.

Since joining, I became educated on proper nutrition and what ideal meal timing should look like for a person as busy as me. Within mere days of making dietary changes, I started noticing that I was having more energy throughout the day and was not experiencing my typical mid-day crash. Also, I learned to exercise and discovered that exercise made me feel stronger, healthier, and better.

Every step has been tremendous progress for me and the change is extremely evident to me. I came in being barely able to exercise with 5 pound weights, only to build to discover that I can now do four times that. Also, I now enjoy a morning hike and thrive in the outdoors. I am a more energized and more confident person as a whole, ready to face challenges instead of simply avoiding them. I know that I would not have been able to initiate and keep these necessary life changes without Karla, April, and Andrew, as they were the fountain of my motivation and fed my drive despite my own insecurities.

This was the best decision I ever made!

So…one year ago today, I was just barely able to walk from ACL surgery. I was “a few” pounds over weight from a poor diet and lack of exercise. On 01/07/13 I started a program with Karla Adams. My goals were drop 30-40 lbs, lower my body fat, run a 5k, get back on snow skis, single water ski again (after 8 yrs off) and rip my CRF 450……well its my (our) one year anniversary…..proud to say I’ve dropped 40lbs and 13% bf….and conquered all my goals. Now on to my new goal for 2014….I’ll keep ya posted….gotta get my mind set  Here’s to setting and achieving your goals. …thanks Karla and crew!!!

I started hiking in 2011 and really enjoyed it but found that it wasn’t enough. It was only working my legs and I felt imbalanced. After meeting with Karla, she customized a complete body workout and nutritional training program just for me. Since starting in July 2011, I have lost over twenty pounds, lowered my body fat percentage, and have more energy. One of the most important things I’ve learned from Karla is about nutrition. I thought I was eating healthy before but again, was very imbalanced. Now I can quickly decide what I need to eat and the best way to get it.
The “side effects” of training are pretty amazing too. I’ve worked out with several members of her Team and everyone has been a tremendous help. All of the clients are there to work, but we make it fun at the same time. I feel better, look better, and that spills over into everything else I do. I highly recommend training!

Went from 16% body fat to 9.6%

I have been involved in sports and exercise since my childhood. For the past several years I have witnessed with curiosity personal trainers and their clients meet and work out month after month with little to no results. Consequently, I had become very jaded about the value of hiring a personal trainer, believing I could do as well on my own. However, once I began to see the incredible results my wife was enjoying while working at the Karla Adams studio, with her encouragement, I decided to try the Karla Adams Studio personal training for myself.

I have been pleasantly surprised that, in fact, with the proper trainer it is possible to elevate my personal fitness level far beyond what I have been able to accomplish alone. I am extremely pleased with my experience and results I have enjoyed since my association with the personal training and nutritional counseling and look forward to continuing in my quest for continued improvements.

Thanks for all your expertise!

“I have become a believer in personal trainers but more importantly, I am confident and appreciative of the skills of Karla Adams. She has my strongest recommendation”
Lifestyle Transformation Fit Business Professional

How can one describe Karla Adams’ approach to personal training? Well, she mixes a spoonful of advice, a cup of cardiovascular challenges, pounds of weightlifting, a taste of nutrition with plenty of enjoyment to create a fitness program that brings results. She uses only proven ingredients in her recipe – motivation, structure, expertise, efficiency and encouragement. Karla’s approach is a recipe for success. I know this firsthand.

Although I began working under Karla in January, 2003, my enthusiasm for a personal trainer and complete support in her emerged a few months later. When I committed to training, I signed on for three months. It was not a difficult decision to continue with my commitment since I experienced positive results – weight loss, improved strength and balance. More importantly, I felt a change in attitude as it related to confidence and lifestyle.

Frankly, when I started, I really couldn’t do much. A short stint on the stationary bike, a few lunges while holding on to something for balance and lifting some light weights was plenty for me to manage. “Little by little, one walks far”. Now, 16 months later and 82 pounds lighter, I am very active and I’m beginning to consider myself athletic. Although I worked hard, I really do have Karla to thank!

Specifically, how did she help me? First, Karla provided motivation and a structured program that helped anchor me in a sustained effort. I was paying an expert for three days a week of training and I had to do it. Later, I started to do cardio on additional days because I saw results and I wanted additional value from my investment. From day one, weightlifting, stability and balance have been a part of Karla’s routine. I never would have placed such an emphasis on these areas without Karla’s expertise. She has a strong understanding of the functions of the body and designs her fitness plans accordingly. Along the way, Karla has always given me encouragement to go beyond what I thought was possible. An example that comes to mind is push ups (yuk!). I started with just a few and gradually increased, with Karla’s ever present insistence on using good form. We graduated to doing push-ups with my hands on a ball rather than on the stable floor. In a couple of months, I was proud that I could do over 30 successful ball pus-ups! Shortly thereafter, I celebrated turning 49 years old and asked Karla if she thought I could do 50 of them by my next birthday. “No problem” was her reply. At last count, I completed 100 ball push ups and I still have five months to go! Finally, Karla’s passion and enthusiasm for fitness and nutrition is evident in everything we do and truly becomes contagious.

I have become a believer in personal trainers but more importantly, I am confident and appreciative of the skills of Karla Adams. She has my strongest recommendation.

Top Ten Training Tips for Karla’s New Clients

By: Dale Kinnear

  1. Never complain: Complaining motivates the trainer to do bad things to you.
  2. Do not talk during difficult exercises: Talking causes Karla to lose count. The new count is never in your favor.
  3. Grunt throughout tough routines: Sometimes Karla thinks an exercise is easier than it really is. Learn to grunt to show her you’re working hard.
  4. Laugh at your trainer’s jokes: It can be awkward when Karla laughs at her own jokes and you don’t join in.
  5. Humor your trainer: When your trainer thinks she’s cute and good because she tricked you into something, tell her so.
  6.  Always agree with Karla’s “philosophy of the day” statements: For example, tell your trainer that you believe “happiness is a state of mind.” Translate it into words Karla understands, say things like, “I enjoy running up hill. The bigger the hill, the happier I am.”
  7. At all costs, avoid discussions on nutrition: A two minute reply to a question about nutrition will take at least 20 minutes of talking by Karla. And, she’ll expect that you do as she says.
  8. Never say you like or dislike a particular exercise: To the degree possible, remain neutral about your feelings regarding all types of exercises. If you tell Karla you like something, you’ll do it until you dislike it. If you tell her that you don’t like an exercise, you’ll do it until you hate it even more.
  9. Never ever pay attention to your trainer when she compares your performance on an exercise to that of another client: Karla makes things up!
  10. Never feel obligated to share all information with your trainer: There are some things that Karla has no business asking about. The size of my one martini is an example of this.

Strict adherence to these ten rules will make your training time with Karla more enjoyable.

How do you stay motivated to train and meet a fitness goal?  I can’t speak for all, but I would say that most women over 40, such as myself, train to: keep the extra  pounds off,  keep the muscles toned, have higher energy levels and to try to “recapture’” the slim, toned, figure that we had when we were in our 20’s. We all fondly remember those days when we “hung out” at the beach wearing nothing but a small bikini and perhaps some suntan oil. (Yea, we were hot!)  Well, one of the main differences for me was that“then”, I could eat or drink pretty much whatever I wanted and it didn’t seem to adversely affect me! Ever since high school I have always been athletic and involved in some type of sport. But, a funny thing happened to me-I started to get older!  I gave birth to my son at 28 then 30 approached then-the dreaded 4-zero! All of a sudden, staying in shape just wasn’t as easy as it used to be!   It suddenly occurred to me that if I wanted to get in shape and stay that way, I was going to have to put forth some effort and do it consistently.

In August 2000, I began running with my local running club the Loma Linda Lopers. I figured that I would have no problem getting back into shape and losing a few extra pounds of “middle-aged fat”.  At that time, I was running about 35 miles a week. Although I was making some improvements and felt stronger; I began getting discouraged because I wasn’t losing any weight. Actually, surprisingly, I was putting some extra pounds on.

I met Karla Adams in October 2003 and explained my frustration to her. At that time, I was also trying to improve my running time with hopes to qualify for the Boston Marathon by the time I reached 50.  At the start, Karla took some measurements, got some history and immediately “diagnosed” my major problem as the high carb “runner’s diet”  I was eating.  As I trained with Karla for about a month, she made changes to my diet. She did this by cutting out the “processed” carbs and increasing my daily protein intake. She also had me lifting weights in a structured format. This was something that I had trouble doing on my own.  Suddenly I started to see some improvement. In fact, I decided to keep training with her on a regular basis because I actually noticed improvement after just 3 or 4 sessions!  This encouraged me to believe that my goals were both realistic and obtainable.

Well, I’ve been training with Karla for almost 2 years and I’m STILL making improvements. I’m increasing my muscle mass while lowering my overall body fat percentage. (Refer to pics on the website).  As for Karla, her knowledge about nutrition, conditioning and weight training is very impressive! She is a great motivator, always encouraging and continues to keep my confidence levels high. An extremely important part of training with any exercise program is mental! She also pushes me to achieve more as she keeps setting the bar higher and higher. I most definitely recommend her as a trainer. She is fantastic!

On a parting note, I would say, do not let the fact that you are over 40 stop you from achieving your fitness goals- it can be done!  Like Nike—just do it!!

“I almost gave up on losing those last few pounds, but now I know what it takes to get in to good physical shape at any age.”

Healthy Lifestyle

My fitness story began 11 years ago when I joined a fitness club and was able to get myself fit with running (indoor then outdoor), weight training, and a little cycling and swimming thrown in for good measure. I joined a running club and gradually built up endurance and speed. A year later, I caught the road-racing bug running 5k and 10k, and soon after that I caught the marathon bug as well. I progressed to a point where I considered myself an experienced runner having completed six marathons from 1995-1999. I raced competitively during that time and won several age group awards. However, after my last marathon in 1999, I noticed my clothes becoming tight, and my weight began to climb. Although I continued running and weight training, I started to feel I was fighting a losing battle, and my work schedule would not allow me enough time to train.

I work as a pediatrician in a new and rapidly growing practice, and my schedule is often very busy and sometimes very stressful. Finding time to exercise, weight train and choose and prepare healthy foods to eat seemed almost impossible with the constraints of my work schedule. I joined the Loma Linda Lopers briefly in 2002 but found little time to train during the week. With little time for exercise the following year, my weight went up to 225 lbs, and I found that even 36 inch pants were a tight fit. I decided to try training with the Lopers one more time. I participated in most of the Sunday morning runs for the 2004-2005 season, but often had difficulty keeping up with my pace group and I needed to walk more often than I would have liked. I was able to make some progress, but I still weighed 218 lbs, and still wore size 36. In March, I opted not to try the LA Marathon, and decided instead to look for help in the form of a personal trainer. As luck would have it, I didn’t need to look too far to find one. Among the leaflets and flyers available at the Gentry Gym on Sunday morning, I found a flyer for Karla Adams, personal trainer. I was particularly interested in Karla’s program since she had trained runners and was an ambitious runner herself. “Great!” I said to myself.

We were able to schedule a consultation and then set up a training schedule. We discussed my training goals and I started my training program in early March. Next, Karla provided me with an individualized nutrition plan. The plan featured a very low fat intake, avoidance of “processed” carbohydrates such as foods made with flour (natural carbohydrates like potato, sweet potato and rice were okay), and a high intake of lean protein. At first glance, it seemed hard to image how I could possibly comply with a plan that asked me to make large changes in my dietary habits, but then I thought, “hey, I’ve been trying so hard, for so long to lose these extra pounds, look at how much more I could have been doing!” If the nutrition plan caused any cravings at all, they were gone by the second week and by that time I had already lost about 6 lbs from my initial weigh-in at 218 lbs. By the 3rd week I was getting used to the nutrition plan and was happy to be making progress. I set an ambitious goal weight of 170 lbs and a pant size of 32 inches. Karla consistently challenged me with increasingly intense weight training sessions while at the same time providing me with all the encouragement and motivation I needed to improve. Of course, when an exercise seems too easy, I often hear a voice saying “10 more”, or worse, when I return for the next set I find an extra 20 lb “present” has been magically added to the apparatus when I wasn’t looking. Seriously, I have found Karla’s approach of giving her clients the necessary tools to improve their own fitness and health very effective; and I have observed the joy it brings Karla when her clients achieve their goals. In my experience, Karla works with each client as part of a 2-person “team” and she is totally dedicated to leading her clients to achieve their personal goals.

As for me, after 4 months of training, my running has improved to a point where I feel I am becoming competitive again, I fit very comfortably into size 32 pants, and I receive compliments every day about how healthy I look. And all this was accomplished with my busy work schedule. My current weight is now 169 lbs and I have increased my running miles to prepare for the fall racing season. I continue to follow the same nutrition plan with allowance made for additional calories for long distance running.

Fitness Model Transformation Photo Shoot Health Recovery

My name is Mary Newton. I am 47 years old. I have faithfully been working out with Karla Adams for about 10 months. I have lost 24 lbs. and I am in the best shape I have ever been in. I found out about Karla from a Loma Linda Loper Newsletter.  Karla had written an article about weight training and marathon performance. I was having trouble with my performance, energy and after the marathons I had done I couldn’t lose weight. I was spinning my wheels. I decided to call Karla!

First of all, I learned about diet. I started that day. I wouldn’t call it a diet but rather a life change. I started weight training. Karla also helped me with cardio training. Not only have I lost weight, improved on my marathons, I have toned my body. The weight training has made me stronger. I go to the gym with confidence now. Karla has helped me with my self-esteem, posture and a lot more than the physical aspects of exercise. Knowing Karla has been a life changing experience and I am glad to know her. I have to say, in the beginning I had my doubts. I was so weak. I remember our sessions were just a half an hour. I was exhausted. Now I work out for an hour and a half, with energy! I was tired all the time when I started. She put me on vitamins. Karla was patient and I worked hard. I just kept doing what she said. After a few months I started seeing results. Karla then put it up a notch. She was always asking about my nutrition.  I was really surprised when it all came together and I could stand there in that swimsuit. I have lost 4 dress sizes and have 14% body fat. My goal is to get stronger and keep fit. My marathons have improved too. I am a lot faster with a lot more energy. I don’t feel so beat up afterwards. I would also like to encourage anyone to take the Karla challenge. You’ll be glad you did!

Lifestyle Transformation

I have always enjoyed running and working out and I have maintained a decent level of fitness since my late 20’s.  As 40 passed me by, I started noticing some changes and not all of them were pleasant.  Those extra and occasional donuts, burgers w/fries and chips which had, for so many years, miraculously disappeared, were still disappearing from the table, but staying with me long after the fact.

By the time the holidays were over last year I had moved up to 190 lbs. Not only that, but what had once been easy for me as a runner was now in the speed work category.  I was not a happy camper!

I knew of Karla from the Lopers, having seen her running, known fellow runners who worked out with her and had seen some of the results they had achieved, so I decided what the heck.

We met up and set some goals….

  • Lose 10lbs.
  • Get down to about 14% body fat
  • Get my speed back in my runs…specifically:
  • Sub 20 min 5K
  • Sub 40 min 10K
  • Sub 3:30 Marathon
  • Increase my overall strength.
  • Feel better about myself and  the way I look

I am happy to say that with the exception of the sub 3:30 marathon and sub 40 min 10K, I have accomplished all of my goals with Karla’s help.  The other 2 goals I have no doubt I will achieve soon, just searching for the right ones.

I also believe that Karla has changed my life. I am not watching my diet to the level that I was when her and I started together, but neither am I eating the way I had been. Karla advocates for life change and that is what is truly necessary to fight the ongoing battle of the bulge. I am approaching the Holiday Season once more, but without fear. Put it this way: as I write this I am recuperating from a 5 mile run that I did in 34 minutes…an impossibility at this time last year.

Lifestyle Transformation

 Sport-Specific Healthy Lifestyle

It was about a year ago, that I embarked on this marathon journey.  I decided to retire my couch and put on my old running shoes.  In high school and college I ran cross country.  During this time, I dreamt of running a marathon.  At that time, I believed it was impossible for me to finish a marathon.  In college, I ran with a couple of runners that had completed marathons in less than three hours.  They would tell me that running a marathon was all about running a 26.2 mile non-stop race.  At that time, all I could run non-stop was about 15 miles.  During this time of my life, I gave up my dream of finishing a marathon.

30 years passed and in July of 2005, I decided to retire my couch and I joined the Loma Linda Lopers running group.  I started to chase my marathon dream again.  The Lopers give me a better concept both technique and attitude towards running and finishing a marathon.  I have to say that the Lopers organization and runners are the best.  I was on my way training for the L.A. Marathon (March 2006).  I never believed that my old body was so fragile.  First couple of weeks into my training, I suffered from leg cramps.  A couple of weeks later, I developed the beginning of shin splints and had problems with the It band caused by two pairs of the wrong shoes.  The final kicker was the development of runner’s knee during my first 10 mile run coming down the last hill.  From July to October, I ran with the 11, 12, 13, and 14 minute-mile groups.  With my runner’s knee injury the doctor side-lined me with a recommendation of no running for three months.  I could not run and running the L.A Marathon was not for me.
I started running again in January.  I continued to run with the 13 minute-mile group.  I felt that there was something missing in my training.  I decided to investigate the use of a professional trainer.  Since I couldn’t run the L.A. Marathon, I set my sights on the San Diego Rock n’ Roll Marathon.  I saw Karla’s advertisement in the Loper Gram and decided to give her a call.  We discussed my goals and her training regime and I decided to go forward with her training program.  Her training techniques included lean diet, muscle toning using weights, and increasing endurance.  Within the first two to three weeks, I started to notice that I felt stronger when I ran.  I had lost a good deal of weight and my endurance was significantly greater.  My first test for ability to finish a race occurred with the Run through Redlands half marathon.  I completed the half marathon in 2 hours, 5 minutes, 45 seconds but had hurt my left knee again running down the extreme hills of this race.  So, back to the doctor with resulting bad news!  The doctor recommended for me to stop running as I had re-aggravated my old injury.  I told the doctor that I had to complete a marathon.  The doctor, a runner himself, provided some good tips including that I stop running temporarily so the knee could heal.

With Karla’s recommendations to continue training to stay loose, I worked on endurance in the gym.  I didn’t run for almost four weeks prior to the marathon.  I was worried that with the injuries suffered so far, I wouldn’t be able to complete the marathon.  Good news was that I did!  To be conservative, I ran the marathon with a slower pacer group than I was running prior to my injury.  This was a good decision as I completed the marathon strong and healthy.  I completed my first marathon in 5 hours, 26 minutes, 22 seconds.  It was not the fastest I could have done but the next day I was able to walk/run 3 miles to work out the sore muscles and I put in a full day at work!  I think there were a few runners I passed during the marathon that didn’t get out of bed that Monday!  I could not have completed this marathon without Karla Adams’ training.  I continue to use her recommendations for diet and exercise to prepare myself for the next half or full marathon.  Thank you Karla for your continued support.

“At 4 weeks, I had lost 6 inches total, 4% body fat and 5 lbs.! Wow!”
Healthy Lifestyle Transformation Photo Shoot

Healthy eating and fitness have always been a huge part of my life. As a teenager I worked for a couple major gyms as a fitness instructor and in 2000 I became a personal trainer and trained at the YWCA for a short while. Needless to say I have worked in the fitness industry for quite some time and was always in very good shape. Several years ago I underwent very aggressive fertility treatments which caused major changes in my body and I have not been the same. While I still looked like I was in good shape to most people, wearing a size 3 and weighing 110 lbs., I was not happy with the way I looked and the way I felt. I did not feel like me. Somewhere in my body was the real Ana so I had to find her again.

I really did not want to go to just any trainer at a gym and I had seen Karla’s ads and facility which I drove by once a week. I finally decided to go to a consultation and get a feel of her program and philosophy. First, look at her! She is the epitome of fit! I sat down with her for 30 minutes and I instantly felt confident that this was the trainer that I was looking for!

I began my training during the most difficult time of the year, Christmas time! Not only was it the Christmas season but I was leaving for New York in two weeks for the holidays so I was not sure how well I was going to do. Karla and I sat down at my first measurement session to discuss my program and she instantly convinced me that I could do this even during the toughest part of the year. She said I will be going on vacations for the rest of my life so I had to learn how to maintain during those. New York was going to be the test for this. So I started my program and off I went to New York. The delis and all that walking were my saving grace! When I returned home after two weeks in New York during the Christmas and New Year holiday, I returned back to Karla and had my second measurements. At 4 weeks, I had lost 6 inches total, 4% body fat and 5 lbs.! Wow!

I continued for the next couple of months progressing and seeing results. As we went along, Karla would tailor my nutrition and exercise program accordingly. I am no stranger to modeling and several years ago when I was in top shape I had appeared in a couple of boating publications in a swimsuit. I have been modeling lately mostly doing fashion and pinup modeling but I wanted to get into fitness modeling since I have been into fitness for so long and I really wanted to model in swimwear again. This is when she told me about a fitness shoot she was setting up with fitness industry photographer Robert Reiff. She convinced me that I could get into the shape I needed to be for this shoot. For the next two months before the shoot I was on a very strict and disciplined style of training and dieting. It was the most intense training I had experienced!

By the time the shoot came around, I had lost a total of 10lbs and 10% body fat. The shoot was amazing and the images came out beautiful! While I still have some fine tuning to do to accomplish the physique I desire, I am in a much better place physically and mentally than I have been in a long time. I feel healthy, happy and energetic. I have learned so much from Karla and she inspires me to continue being the best I can be and believes in me! Thanks to Karla and her team of Ambassadors, Alex and Shelby for pushing me and helping reach my fitness goals. I look forward to the next level of fitness with Karla, toying with competition but we’ll see!

Karla often refers to me as her “Oldest Client”, I would like to clarify that “I am the client she has had longest”. Karla and her crew are the best. They tailor a program to your needs and know how far to push, recognizing your personal limits. Exercising on your own for most of us gets boring so we start to diminish the workout. With Karla it’s a workout with results and it is fun. I am thoroughly addicted to working out with Karla and her crew.

I graduated from college and started working and slowly began packing on the pounds. I had always struggled with my weight but had been active and strong so managed to keep it in check.  When I started working I started spending a lot more time sitting at a desk and eating out every day for lunch. I had never learned healthy eating habits so I tried a lot of fad diets and fasts that really just left me feeling grumpy, unsatisfied and hopeless. I had no idea how to lose weight, without a plan I was doomed to failure but didn’t know a way out.

I was engaged and beginning to think about wedding planning and felt incredibly unhappy with the prospect of trying on dresses for one of the most important days of my life the way I looked. I was also frustrated  I didn’t look as good as when I met my soon-to-be husband.  I knew I needed to make a change so I started looking up personal trainers. Karla came up in some of my research and I made an appointment to meet with her.  I was excited by what I heard but I was not sure I could do it. I thought about it for a month and mentally prepared myself to commit the time and effort to get where I wanted to be ( I was a size 14)

I started working out with Karla Adams on September 24.  I started seeing result immediately with her plan of bi-weekly measurements and personalized nutrition. It was a manageable plan making small changes until I was ready for bigger ones. I learned how to make smart food choices no matter where I was and came to terms that even if I couldn’t eat perfectly on-plan it was ok, I was still being healthy.  The difference for me was key because I wasn’t on a “diet” this was a plan I could stick with for the rest of my life. I never felt hungry or grumpy because I “couldn’t” have certain foods. I learned what correct portions are and how to read food labels to find things that weren’t just marketed as healthy, but actually were healthy.

“Karla Adams has provided me with both an effective workout and a structured nutrition plan to move toward my goal”

Healthy Lifestyle

Although I had been working with a wonderful trainer for several years and made tremendous improvements physically, I knew I needed something more than dedication and a great workout routine to achieve the look of a figure competitor. Karla Adams has provided me with both an effective workout and a structured nutrition plan to move toward that goal. I have enjoyed the workouts at Karla’s private gym, and her diet plan is detailed for every meal of the week. As a result, I am getting closer to finally being “happy” when i look in the mirror. Thanks Karla and Rami for always pushing me!

“I now understand what I am doing, and how it is benefiting me at the cellular level”

Healthy Lifestyle

After graduating High School, I soon learned that staying in shape for me takes work. I’m not naturally thin, and have struggled with weight throughout college and in between relationships. We all know how easy it is to get distracted in what we are doing when it comes to our health. I was also in a major boating accident, and let that be another excuse of why I wasn’t able to stay fit.

While I was at the gym following “my own program” and not seeing much result, I met Karla. I have always wanted to learn a healthy lifestyle from someone who actually looked and played the part. What a better person to take lessons from, than Karla herself! I was concerned that I wouldn’t be able to keep up with the tasks due to my injuries, but she pushed me into believing in myself, and I quickly excelled.

Right after signing up with Karla’s program, I got engaged! I used the upcoming wedding date as my goal for weight loss. Soon I began to realize that I was making a lifestyle change and wanted to not only get fit just for the wedding, but to stay fit AFTER! Every bride wants toned arms because that is usually what shows most on your wedding day. Not only have I been able to tone my arms, I have also slimmed down the rest of my body; Seeing results in a slim waist, as well as toned back, chest, and legs. I have been able to lose 40 lbs. and go from a size 12 to a size 4 dress that I just wore for my engagement pictures!

Karla’s program has not only helped me lose weight, gain muscle and lose body fat, but I have also been educated in how it all works. I now understand what I am doing, and how it is benefiting me at the cellular level. My food choices are healthier, I actually look forward to workouts, and it all became a natural choice for me. I want to do these things, rather than feel like I have to.

Make healthy a habit! It is doable!
