I graduated from college and started working and slowly began packing on the pounds. I had always struggled with my weight but had been active and strong so managed to keep it in check.  When I started working I started spending a lot more time sitting at a desk and eating out every day for lunch. I had never learned healthy eating habits so I tried a lot of fad diets and fasts that really just left me feeling grumpy, unsatisfied and hopeless. I had no idea how to lose weight, without a plan I was doomed to failure but didn’t know a way out.

I was engaged and beginning to think about wedding planning and felt incredibly unhappy with the prospect of trying on dresses for one of the most important days of my life the way I looked. I was also frustrated  I didn’t look as good as when I met my soon-to-be husband.  I knew I needed to make a change so I started looking up personal trainers. Karla came up in some of my research and I made an appointment to meet with her.  I was excited by what I heard but I was not sure I could do it. I thought about it for a month and mentally prepared myself to commit the time and effort to get where I wanted to be ( I was a size 14)

I started working out with Karla Adams on September 24.  I started seeing result immediately with her plan of bi-weekly measurements and personalized nutrition. It was a manageable plan making small changes until I was ready for bigger ones. I learned how to make smart food choices no matter where I was and came to terms that even if I couldn’t eat perfectly on-plan it was ok, I was still being healthy.  The difference for me was key because I wasn’t on a “diet” this was a plan I could stick with for the rest of my life. I never felt hungry or grumpy because I “couldn’t” have certain foods. I learned what correct portions are and how to read food labels to find things that weren’t just marketed as healthy, but actually were healthy.
