Healthy eating and fitness have always been a huge part of my life. As a teenager I worked for a couple major gyms as a fitness instructor and in 2000 I became a personal trainer and trained at the YWCA for a short while. Needless to say I have worked in the fitness industry for quite some time and was always in very good shape. Several years ago I underwent very aggressive fertility treatments which caused major changes in my body and I have not been the same. While I still looked like I was in good shape to most people, wearing a size 3 and weighing 110 lbs., I was not happy with the way I looked and the way I felt. I did not feel like me. Somewhere in my body was the real Ana so I had to find her again.
I really did not want to go to just any trainer at a gym and I had seen Karla’s ads and facility which I drove by once a week. I finally decided to go to a consultation and get a feel of her program and philosophy. First, look at her! She is the epitome of fit! I sat down with her for 30 minutes and I instantly felt confident that this was the trainer that I was looking for!
I began my training during the most difficult time of the year, Christmas time! Not only was it the Christmas season but I was leaving for New York in two weeks for the holidays so I was not sure how well I was going to do. Karla and I sat down at my first measurement session to discuss my program and she instantly convinced me that I could do this even during the toughest part of the year. She said I will be going on vacations for the rest of my life so I had to learn how to maintain during those. New York was going to be the test for this. So I started my program and off I went to New York. The delis and all that walking were my saving grace! When I returned home after two weeks in New York during the Christmas and New Year holiday, I returned back to Karla and had my second measurements. At 4 weeks, I had lost 6 inches total, 4% body fat and 5 lbs.! Wow!
I continued for the next couple of months progressing and seeing results. As we went along, Karla would tailor my nutrition and exercise program accordingly. I am no stranger to modeling and several years ago when I was in top shape I had appeared in a couple of boating publications in a swimsuit. I have been modeling lately mostly doing fashion and pinup modeling but I wanted to get into fitness modeling since I have been into fitness for so long and I really wanted to model in swimwear again. This is when she told me about a fitness shoot she was setting up with fitness industry photographer Robert Reiff. She convinced me that I could get into the shape I needed to be for this shoot. For the next two months before the shoot I was on a very strict and disciplined style of training and dieting. It was the most intense training I had experienced!
By the time the shoot came around, I had lost a total of 10lbs and 10% body fat. The shoot was amazing and the images came out beautiful! While I still have some fine tuning to do to accomplish the physique I desire, I am in a much better place physically and mentally than I have been in a long time. I feel healthy, happy and energetic. I have learned so much from Karla and she inspires me to continue being the best I can be and believes in me! Thanks to Karla and her team of Ambassadors, Alex and Shelby for pushing me and helping reach my fitness goals. I look forward to the next level of fitness with Karla, toying with competition but we’ll see! |
